2.Indentification Information

Title : Irish Geological Heritage Sites / Upper Palaeozoic Palaeontology Sites (IGH2)

Description : A national database consisting of information relating to Irish Geological Heritage Sites, which are separated into 16 different themes, such as Karst, Mineralogy, Lower Carboniferous etc ( IGH 1 – (Karst); IGH 2 – (Precambrian to Devonian Palaeontology);IGH 3 (Carboniferous to Pliocene Palaeontology, and so forth ). A site with multiple themes is possible. The variables that describe these different types of site include site name, county, status, associated references etc. Each site has a basic entry in Excel format with a corresponding more detailed record, which consists of word documents, photos and copies of references in a folder. Excel summary file and the actual site folders constitute the IGH database (L:\IGH\IGH\Nt_igh\Igh Themes.)

Keywords: Geological Heritage Sites , Karst, Mineralogy, Lower Carboniferous,

Precambrian to Devonian Paleontology, Carboniferous to Pliocene Paleontology, Cambrian-Silurian, Precambrian, Quaternary, Upper Carboniferous and Permian, Devonian, Igneous intrusions, Mesozoic and Cenozoic, Coastal geomorphology, Fluvial and lacustrine geomorphology, Economic geology, Hydrogeology.
