4. Lineage Records

4.1 File name: merc_asci3, merc3b, merc_z3cdef2, merc_3g_all, merc_3h (file folders-Arc GIS grid)

Date: 16/10/2006

Originator Geological Survey of Ireland

Nature of change/update to data: bathymetric grids generated for zone3 A-H are created by converting ascii xyz data to raster data and projecting it into world mercator co-ordinates.

Methodology: Use of ArcGIS 9 tools to convert ascii data and to project it to Mercator Co-ords

Sources used as input data for the Change/Update: asciito_3a_d1, asc_r_z3b_dd1, asc_r_z3cdef, asc_r_3g_all, asc_r_3h

Scripts/tools used: ARCGIS 9, Data Management Tools, Projections and Transformations, Raster, Project, Raster, Output Co-ordinate systems, select, projected co-ordinate systems, World, Mercator (world).prj.

 4.2 File name: z3_merc_all (file folder-ArcGIS grid)

Date: 28/11/2006

Originator Geological Survey of Ireland

Nature of change/update to data: Data for each of the sections of Zone 3 was merged using the mosaic tool in ARCGIS, producing a new raster of the entire Zone 3 area in mercator co-ords

Methodology: Mercator Rasters merged in ArcGIS using mosaic tool.

Sources used as input data for the Change/Update: merc_asci3, merc3b, merc_z3cdef2, merc_3g_all, merc_3h

Scripts/tools used: ArcGIS, Data management tools, Raster, Mosaic to new Raster

4.3 File name: zone3_shd_rel (file folder-ArcGIS grid)

Date: 28/11/2006

Originator Geological Survey of Ireland

Nature of change/update to data: The Raster for Zone 3 in World Mercator Co-ordinates co-ordinates is projected into standard WGS 84 Co-ordinates, generating a new bathymetric grid for the entire Zone 3 area

Methodology: Existing Raster is projected to the new co-ordinate system using ARCGIS 9

Sources used as input data for the Change/Update: z3_merc_all (file folder-ArcGIS grid)

Scripts/tools used: ARCGIS 9, Data Management Tools, Projections and Transformations, Raster, Project, Raster, Output Co-ordinate systems, select, projected co-ordinate systems, Geographic, WGS 1984 (world).prj

4.4 File name: by0609_800ing (ArcGIS grid)

Date: 01/07/2009

Originator Geological Survey of Ireland

Nature of change/update to data: Data from the INFOMAR survey has been added and the grid has been projected into Irish National Grid

Methodology: INFOMAR xyz data was gridded using Fledermaus. The resulting .dtm was exported to ArcGIS .asc format. This was converted to ArcGIS Grid and all Grids were merged using Spatial Analyst.

Sources used as input data for the Change/Update: z3_merc_all (file folder-ArcGIS grid)

Scripts/tools used: Fledermaus Average Gridder to create .dtm and DMagic to export .dtm. ARCGIS 9.3 with Spatial Analyst, ArcToolbox - Conversion - To Raster - ascii to Raster, ArcCatalog to set projection. Raster Calculator to merge grids.
